Job summary

Custom Engineering Company in Erie, Pennsylvania, is seeking 1st and 2nd shift Welder/Fitter for plate and structural fabrication work. The position pays $19.00-$23.00 per hour, with a $2.00 second shift differential.

Welders will read shop drawings, weld carbon steel, stainless steel, inconel and aluminum using FCAW, MCAW, MIG, TIG, STICK, and SAW. Duties include fitting, operating cranes and forklifts, and ensuring welds meet specs.

Qualifications

  • Ability to read and understand shop drawings.
  • Ability to pass various weld tests.
  • Ability to understand standard welding symbols.
  • Basic math skills.
  • 1-3 years of related experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
  • Crane experience.
  • Forklift experience.
  • Trade certification or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

  • Weld in the flat, horizontal and vertical positions.
  • Follow welding procedure specifications (WPS) and verify weld sizes with gages.
  • Fit plate, structural material, and pipe per travelers and specs.
  • Move parts with overhead cranes and forklifts as needed.
  • Produce consistent welds per drawings and customer specs.

About this position

Description:We are currently seeking 1st and 2nd shift Welder / Fitter for plate and structural fabrication work.$19.00- $23.00 ( $2.00 2nd shift differential)

  • Basic knowledge of fitting plate, structural material and pipe utilizing shop drawings, specifications and travelers
  • Use torches to cut/cope beams, cut/bevel plates and heat straighten parts
  • Knowledge of fitting and welding various materials; carbon steel, stainless steel, inconel and aluminum
  • Welding processes may include; Flux-cored Arc Welding (FCAW), Metal-cored Arc Welding (MCAW), Gas Metal Arc Welding (MIG), Shielded Metal Arc Welding (Stick), Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (TIG) and Submerged Arc Weld (SAW)
  • Perform welding in the flat, horizontal and vertical positions
  • Produce consistent welds in accordance with shop drawings and customer specifications
  • Follow welding procedure specifications (WPS) to set up welding machines and check weld sizes with company-issued weld gages
  • Run overhead cranes and forklifts when necessary to move parts throughout the shop
