Job summary

Afinitas is seeking a skilled welder to operate MIG/TIG and flux-core welding processes in a manufacturing setting. You will read blueprints, set up equipment, perform saw operations, and ensure parts meet strict tolerances. Maintain safe, clean work area and document quality data daily.

The role requires strong grinding knowledge, multitasking ability, and a collaborative mindset to support production goals and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Must be able to competently perform all level 1 duties.
• Ability to understand and interpret moderately complex blueprints, specifications, and machined part prints
• Strong grinding knowledge.
• Proficient in MIG, TIG, and flux-core welding
• Experience with machined part fabrication.
• Ability to be versatile and flexible in running open machines.

Responsibilities

• Interpret moderately complex drawings, route sheets, specifications to determine methods and techniques.
• Set up and operate welding equipment; adjust current, gas pressures and controls; select rod, wire, electrodes.
• Perform moderately complex saw operations and painting as required.
• Calculate dimensions and tolerances using micrometers and calipers.
• Measure, examine, and test completed units to detect defects and ensure conformance to specs.
• Complete necessary documentation to ensure quality and production requirements.
• Actively participate in team meetings to communicate and help resolve cost/quality issues.
• Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
• Maintain equipment and work area in a clean, orderly, safe condition.

Job Description:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Interpret moderately complex drawings, route sheets, specifications, and instructions to determine methods and techniques to be applied
• Set up and operate metal arc, shielded arc, or oxyacetylene equipment for welding, brazing, and flame cutting operations; set current, amperage, gas pressures and controls; select rod, wire, tips, electrodes for specific job at hand; fit, position, and secure with holding devices
• Perform moderately complex saw operations and painting as required
• Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and calipers
• Measure, examine, and test completed units in order to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications using precision instruments such as micrometers
• Detect defective material, unusual conditions or operating difficulties and report to supervisor describing in accurate detail to ensure proper corrective actions
• Complete necessary documentation to ensure quality and production requirements
• Actively participate in team meetings to communicate and help resolve any cost, quality, or production issues; understand and apply engineering change request process
• Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures
• Maintain equipment and work area in a clean, orderly, and safe condition.
• Other duties as assigned.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
