Ziegler CAT in Altoona, PA is seeking a full-time Welder to perform repairs and fabricate heavy construction and mining equipment at our Altoona branch. Responsibilities include welding and fabrication, maintaining equipment, documenting work orders, and collaborating with technicians while upholding safety standards.

Qualifications require a 2-year welding college credential or equivalent experience, ability to operate multiple welding processes, and good communication.

Qualifications

• 2-year technical college degree/certificate in welding or equivalent
• Able to operate listed welding equipment (spot, arc, MIG, TIG, plasma)
• Able to read dimensional blueprints
• Experience with gauging/measurement preferred
• Good written and verbal communication

The pay range for this position is $27.00 to $45.00 Starting wage is dependent on skills, experience, education and location. Pay range may vary by 10% depending upon the applicant’s location.

Responsibilities:

• Perform welding and fabrication
• Maintain equipment such as dressing welding electrodes, oiling/greasing, machine settings, changing of tooling, and other adjustments as necessary
• Document work orders in a complete and timely manner to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction
• Work safely at all times, following company policies, procedures and standards
• Work collaboratively and assist other technicians as needed regarding troubleshooting repairs
• Participate in ongoing training to enhance mechanical skills and grow product knowledge

Qualifications:

• 2-year technical college degree/certificate in welding or related field; or high school diploma/GED and 2 years of comparable welding experience
• Able to operate spot welder, arc welder, plasma TIG welder, MIG welder, cutting torch, power grinder, power sander, hand-tools, bandsaw, drills, temporary fixturing devices, and other metal-fabrication equipment
• Able to read dimensional blueprints – preferred but not required
• Experience with gauging and measuring preferred
• Ability to write and communicate effectively and interact with supervisors, customers and team members
• Basic computer skills to document work orders and utilize online diagnostic systems
• Own mechanic tool set – preferred but not required
• Ability to maintain a safe and clean work environment

This role is deemed safety sensitive and requires the ability to successfully complete a pre-employment drug test

Minimum Physical Requirements:

• Push/pull up to 50 lbs
• Lift/carry up to 60 lbs
• Lift bulky objects
• Standing, walking, using hands, talking, hearing, neck rotation, trunk rotation, stair climbing, ladder climbing, repetitive bending, kneeling, sustained squat, forward reaching, overhead reaching, supine overhead reaching, crawling, bin lift, high steps, fingering/grasping – able to use bolt box.

Working Conditions may be indoor and/or outdoor. Noise level may be loud at times.
