Job summary

Thunderbird Molding in Missouri seeks a seasoned Welder Fabricator to join our shop. You will read blueprints, set up welds, and fabricate complex components using MIG, TIG, and Stick processes, including stainless steel.

You will handle precise measurements, operate plasma cutters and fabrication equipment, maintain quality standards, and collaborate with a skilled team. Occasional travel to support multiple locations is expected.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of welding fabrication experience.
  • Strong understanding of welding processes and fabrication techniques.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, drawings, and weld symbols.
  • Experience with hand/power tools and metal fabrication machinery.
  • Strong math skills for layouts and measurements.

  • Ability to troubleshoot fabrication issues.
  • Capability to perform physical tasks (lifting, standing).
  • Team-focused communication and collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Read blueprints and specifications to plan fabrication.
  • Measure, mark, and cut metal pieces with plasma cutters, shears, and band saws.
  • Fabricate components by layout, fit, and assemble using machinery.
  • Perform MIG, TIG, and Stick welding on various metals including stainless.

Job description

Welder Fabricator Overview

The Welder Fabricator will be responsible for fabricating and welding complex components using advanced techniques and tools. The role will support multiple locations.


Essential Functions


  • Read and comprehend blueprints, technical drawings, and engineering specifications to plan the fabrication process.

  • Precisely measure, mark, and cut metal pieces using equipment such as plasma cutters, shears, and band saws.

  • Fabricate components – lay out, fit, and assemble parts to create a larger component or structure. This may involve using machinery.

  • Perform welding using various welding techniques such as MIG, TIG, and Stick welding.

  • Must be able to weld all types of metals including stainless.

  • Perform quality checks to ensure the welds and fabricated parts meet strict specifications and safety standards.

  • Clean, grind, and polish finished welds and surfaces for a smooth, high‑quality finish.

  • Perform routine maintenance on welding machines, hand tools, and other fabrication equipment.

  • Follow all safety procedures and wear appropriate protective gear to maintain a safe work environment.

  • Use material handling equipment such as forklifts and overhead cranes to move parts and materials.

  • Some travel will be required.


Required Experience


  • 10+ years of welding fabrication.

  • Strong understanding of different welding processes and fabrication techniques.

  • Ability to accurately interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and weld symbols.

  • Experience with a variety of hand tools, power tools, and metal fabrication machinery, including grinders, shears, and saws.

  • Strong basic math skills for accurate measurements and layouts.

  • Meticulous attention to detail for ensuring the quality and precision of fabricated components and welds.

  • Strong ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during the fabrication process.

  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting heavy objects, standing for long periods, and working in potentially awkward positions.

  • Collaborate effectively with other team members and communicate clearly.
