Welder Fabricator

Job Category: Assembly

Brief Description

Perform various fabrication and welding tasks. Support production with specialized tasks and projects.

Responsibilities

  1. Installation of parts and components per work instructions.
  2. Fabrication of parts and brackets as required using diagrams and/or engineering drawings.
  3. Follow oral and written task directives.
  4. Troubleshoot and assist with corrective measures as needed due to engineering or design issues.
  5. Self-inspect continually during work shift; analyze and offer suggestions for progressive improvement.
  6. Keep a clean and safe working environment and optimize space utilization.
  7. Communicate and cooperate with supervisors and coworkers.
  8. Operate and preventively maintain warehouse vehicles and equipment.
  9. Follow quality service standards and comply with procedures, rules and regulations.

Requirements

  1. High school diploma or GED.
  2. Up to 2 to 4 years of welding experience.
  3. Tape measurement and blueprint skills a must.
  4. Fabrication experience / certification preferred.
  5. Highly skilled in Mig / Tig application (Ferrous and alloy metals. Must have experience with stainless steel & aluminum).
  6. Knowledgeable and skilled in the proper use of cutting (Plasma, acetylene torch, shear) equipment.
  7. Skilled in reading comprehension, writing and mathematical skills.
  8. Ability to understand written and verbal work instructions.
  9. Skilled in the operation of basic hand tools, shop tools and equipment. Competency in the use of measuring devices to stay within required tolerances.
  10. Highly skilled and mechanically inclined. Ability to learn processes quickly, adapt to process changes and implement those changes.
  11. Knowledge of the manufacturing processes and related machinery.
  12. Ability to keep a clean and safe working environment.
  13. Welding Certification is a plus.
  14. Manufacturing and/or automotive experience preferred.
  15. Willingness to travel if required.
  16. Must be able to pass a preemployment drug screening.

Physical Requirements

  1. Prolonged periods of standing.
  2. Required to walk, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb and crawl.
  3. Regularly lift and move up to 10 lbs.; frequently lift and move up to 30 lbs.; occasionally lift and move up to 50 lbs.
  4. Ability to see and adjust visual focus both up-close and at a distance; position requires peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to see and distinguish colors.
  5. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job.

Work Environment

  1. Exposure to high-levels of noise.
  2. May be exposed to caustic fluids and fumes.
  3. Machinery operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to: eye safety glasses, hearing protection, work boots and hardhats.
  4. Loose fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted.
  5. Position may operate a motor vehicle and may work outdoors.

Compensation and Benefits:

Compensation for this position will be in the range of $18 to $20 per hour. Qualified candidates will generally work a 40-hour work week, working four, 10-hour shifts.
