National Salvage and Service is seeking to hire a Welder / Fabricator for the Fleet Division in Bloomington, IN

National Salvage & Service is a sustainable company, we recycle nearly all the material we salvage. This practice not only keeps these materials out of landfills, improving the environment; it also saves our customers significant amounts of money, reducing the cost of a job and adding to profit.

National is a leading wholesale provider of used railroad ties and new railroad ties and other treated hardwood railroad track products, as well as recycled utility poles.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Maintain knowledge and adherence to all safety policies
  • Create quality welds
  • Ensure work is done safely and meets quality standards
  • Prepare product to be welded by grinding and cutting parts to proper dimensions
  • Keep work areas clean and organized and take proper care of all equipment and facilities
  • Monitor Equipment and request maintenance when needed
  • Help keep scrap and waste to a minimum and be efficient in use of all supplies
  • Perform manual tasks in a way that meets or exceeds the required production level

Qualifications:

  • Ability to meet deadlines and be self-motivated
  • Mig & stick welding: 3 years (Required)
  • Ability to work without supervision for extended time periods
  • Must be able to work in noisy, non air-conditioned/heated work area
  • Ability to accurately read a tape measure and other measuring tools
  • Need experience using mig and stick welding processes
  • Must have skills in cutting with torches and plasma cutters
