Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a welder to learn and perform basic SMAW and FCAW welding in a shipyard environment. You will join metal materials supporting ship construction and repair while following safety procedures under guidance from experienced welders.

The role requires a welding training program or certification, 6 months to 1 year of related experience, and the ability to pass military-standard weld tests across 3G, 2G, and 4G positions. U.S. citizenship is required.

Qualifications

  • Welding training program or technical certification required.
  • 6 months to 1 year of welding experience or completion of a skilled trade class in FCAW and SMAW.
  • Able to pass military-standard weld tests in 3G, 2G, and 4G positions.
  • Completion of a welding program may substitute for experience.
  • Able to pass a hands-on skill assessment; weld test is for x-ray quality.
  • Willingness to learn and develop new welding skills.
  • U.S. citizenship required.
  • Must be available to work any shift in a 24/7 manufacturing environment.
  • HS diploma preferred.
  • Shipbuilding experience preferred.

Requirements

  • Minimum of six months to 1 year of work experience or completion of a skilled trade class in FCAW (Flux Core) and SWAW (Stick) welding
  • Ability to pass military-standard weld tests in vertical (3G), horizontal (2G), and overhead (4G) positions
  • Successful completion of a welding technical training certification program may be substituted for the experience requirement
  • Ability to pass a hands-on skill assessment; the weld test is for x-ray quality
  • Willingness to learn and develop new welding skills
  • Comfort working in active industrial environments
  • Strong commitment to safety, craftsmanship, and teamwork
  • U.S. citizenship required
  • Must be available to work any shift in a 24/7 manufacturing environment
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent is preferred
  • Previous experience in shipbuilding is preferred
