How you will contribute

Valmont is seeking a motivated individual for the Welder A position in the Global Engineered Support Structures division. Responsibilities include welding metal components to fabricate or repair products based on layouts, blueprints, or work orders, using brazing and various arc and gas welding techniques. Your tasks will include:

• Welding metal structural components for steel electrical poles, substations, and other structures
• Performing welding operations with minimal planning, following blueprints or specifications
• Using all safety devices and wearing personal protective equipment
• Adjusting welding equipment to prescribed settings
• Maintaining and operating production tools and welding equipment safely
• Reading and completing labor reports, shop forms, and blueprints

Required Qualifications

• 1-2 years of professional welding experience
• Ability to accurately read a measuring tape
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
• Effective communication skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment

Highly Qualified

• High School Diploma or GED
• At least one year of manufacturing or fabrication experience
• AWS welding certification from a recognized school
• Six months of professional welding experience
• Ability to interpret blueprints independently
• Ability to identify and report maintenance or product issues
