Job summary

InterCon Construction is seeking a Welder to join a crew welding gas piping and service tees. The role requires tapping with Mueller fittings and welding on gas mains, with travel within Wisconsin as needed. A CDL Class A is preferred and safety on site is mandatory.

Candidates should have a high school diploma and be able to work outdoors, lift 50 lbs regularly, and operate across varied pipe sizes while coordinating with the site foreman.

Qualifications

• Welding gas piping and service tees.
• Welding test per Wisconsin Utility Association (WUA) standards.
• Experience tapping with Mueller fittings.
• Experience welding gas mains preferred.
• Education in Gas & Utilities Construction preferred.
• Valid Driver's License, Class A CDL.

Responsibilities

• Weld gas piping and service tees as part of a crew.
• Tap with Mueller fittings on gas mains.
• Prepare pipe alignment on worksite and assemble gas piping.
• Weld gas piping of various sizes and ensure joints.
• Follow safety standards on site, including trench work.
• Assist site foreman and communicate needs.
• Travel within Wisconsin as required.
• Load, unload, and transport construction materials and tools.

Job Requirements

The Welder works as part of a crew to weld gas pipe.

Essential Job Responsibilities

• Welding service tees and tie‑ins.
• Tapping with Mueller fittings.
• Previous experience welding on Natural Gas pipe is required. \" to 12\" steel pipe.
• Ability to work outdoors.
• Loads, unloads, and transports construction materials and tools.
• Signals Operators to help facilitate movement or alignment of equipment.
• Prepares pipe alignment on worksite.
• Assembles and welds gas piping of various sizes.
• Communicates and assists as needed, through site foreman.
• Follows safety standards throughout the process, including while digging trenches, sliding pipe into trenches, and coating joints.
• Some in state travel required.

Qualifications & Required Knowledge/Skills

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Must pass Wisconsin Utility Association (WUA) weld test.
• Must have tapping experience with Mueller fittings.
• Experience welding gas mains preferred.
• Education in Gas & Utilities Construction preferred.
• Possesses a valid Driver's License in good standing, Class A CDL.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail required.
• Must be able to bend/kneel/stand/walk for long periods of time.
• Must be able to lift/push/pull at least 50 lbs. regularly.
• Travel required within the State of Wisconsin.
