Job summary

Oshkosh Corporation is seeking a Welder to operate welding equipment and build high quality parts and subassemblies on our production lines. The role involves reading blueprints, adjusting welding settings, and ensuring precise welds with attention to safety and quality standards.

The position requires completing a weld class or curriculum and passing the Welder Qualification test. Candidates should be able to read measuring devices and work in a team or solo setting, with regular attendance

Responsibilities

  • Adjust welding machine settings to proper weld configurations
  • Operate grinders/needle guns/wire wheels to ensure clean welds
  • Heat and form metal parts using hand tools or welding equipment
  • Weld components in flat, horizontal, vertical or overhead positions
  • Read measuring devices accurately and assemble welded parts
  • Position material/parts for welding and follow production instructions
  • Work on multiple production lines as needed to meet demand
  • Maintain 6S standards and a clean, safe work environment

This position is responsible for operating welding equipment to build high quality parts, subassemblies, and finished product. Weldments vary in type, size, and direction and are performed on a variety of production lines.



  • Adjust welding machine settings to proper weld configurations

  • Use tools such as grinders, needle guns, wire wheels, etc. for cleanliness of finished welds

  • Heats and forms metal parts and components using hand tools, torch, or welding equipment

  • Welds components in flat, horizontal, vertical or overhead positions

  • Accurately operate and read measuring devices

  • Assemble and weld various metal parts together

  • Properly position material/parts to be welded

  • Train and work in various areas of production in response to production demands

  • Follow verbal and written work instructions including ability to read blueprints

  • Attention to detail necessary to adhere to quality standards

  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment in compliance with safety procedures, rules, and proper 6S standards

  • Work in both team and individual settings

  • Regular attendance required

  • All other duties and responsibilities that are assigned

Minimum Qualifications


  • Must receive a passing score on the Welder Qualification test and recertify skills as required by program guidelines

  • Must have completed a weld class / curriculum
