Job summary

Goodyear, a leading tire manufacturer with facilities in Akron, is seeking an Industrial Welder to support tire-related manufacturing equipment. Responsibilities include troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, repair, and safety adherence in a dynamic factory setting.

Qualified candidates have a HS diploma or GED, are at least 18, and are legally eligible to work in the United States. Prior welding experience in an industrial environment is preferred, with basic tool proficiency and safety

Responsibilities

• Prepare and weld in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.
• Operate brazing and soldering equipment.
• Interpret blueprints, sketches, and manufacturing specifications.
• Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat bend, grind or bolt components to required configurations.
• Monitor welding process to prevent overheating, warping, or distortion.
• Log maintenance and repair activities; follow safety policies (LOTO, PPE).

You will also be responsible for related safety and housekeeping throughout the facility.Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:Prepare and weld in flat, vertical, or overhead positions with multiple technologiesOperate brazing and soldering equipmentInterpret blueprints, sketches, maintenance manuals and manufacturing specificationsClamp, hold, tack-weld, heat bend, grind or bolt component parts to obtain required configurationsMonitor the fitting, burning and welding process to avoid overheating, warping, shrinking, distortion, or expansion of materialsRecognize, set up and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade such as shielded metal arc and gas metal arc welding equipmentDetect faulty operation of equipment or defective material and notify supervisionLog or use computerized work order system for repair and maintenance activities performedAbide by safe work standards including Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO), Fall Protection, Confined Spaces, and appropriate use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)Adhere to Goodyear's attendance policyPerform a variety of manual tasks in varying temperatures for extended periods of time, which may include lifting light to heavy materials, climbing, standing, squatting, bending, and working at heights when applicableBasic Qualifications:HS Diploma/GEDMust be at least 18 years of ageMust be legally authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship now or in the futureNo relocation is being offered for this positionMust be able to successfully complete all post-offer, pre-employment contingenciesBasic computer skillsMust provide basic toolsPreferred Qualifications:Previous experience as an Industrial Welder with the basic knowledge and understanding of machine technology, construction, operation of heavy industrial machinery and power/control devicesIndustrial Welder Journeyman's card or AAS in WeldingDesire and willingness to learn and perform across craftsExperience adhering to industry-specific safety standardsCandidate Criteria:Self-motivated: demonstrates appropriate initiative with or without direct supervisionHard worker: someone who works diligently to get tasks doneAdaptability: the ability to make changes, and to be successful in changing environmentsTeam player: an associate who can be counted on to assist the company in being successful whether working on a team or individual projectsCommitment to working safelyWillingness to adhere to tobacco-free policy
