Job summary

BlueScope North America is seeking skilled and detail‑oriented welders to fabricate and repair metal into high‑quality components for our team. Whether you’re an experienced welder or eager to learn, we welcome applicants from all backgrounds to contribute to our projects.

You will interpret blueprints, position and weld parts, use cranes or forklifts as needed, and participate in continuous improvement while maintaining a clean, safe work environment.

Responsibilities

• Interpret blueprints, specifications, drawings or schematics to determine welding processes.
• Position, align, fit and weld parts following blueprints and layout specs.
• Safely use cranes, forklifts and other lifting devices to position materials or parts.
• Perform inspections using measuring tools to ensure materials meet specs.
• Actively participate in continuous improvement and corrective actions.
• Maintain organization and support housekeeping and 5‑S practices.

What You’ll Do

• Interpret blueprints, specifications, drawings or schematics to determine appropriate welding processes.
• Position, align, fit and weld parts to form complete units or subunits, following blueprints and layout specifications using jigs, welding torches and hand tools.
• Safely use lifting devices, such as cranes and forklifts, to position materials or parts as needed.
• Utilize measuring tools and processes to perform inspections before, during and after production, ensuring materials meet exact specifications.
• Actively participate in continuous improvement and corrective action activities.
• Maintain and organize: keep track of material inventory, perform machine maintenance and support housekeeping and organizational standards, such as 5‑S practices.

The expected pay scale for this role is $22.62‑$24.29 per hour, depending on experience, skill set and qualifications. In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for a monthly bonus, health and welfare benefits and a 401(k) match in accordance with BlueScope policies.
