Job summary

ASSA ABLOY Group seeks a temporary Weld Operator in Houston to set up and run welding, soldering, and brazing processes for metal products. You will read blueprints, production schedules, and inspect parts for quality, while working with a team on the shop floor.

Responsibilities include loading pieces into machines, guiding others on setup, and performing basic MIG welding of galvanized steel. Strong reading/math and metallurgy understanding are valued.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate welding machines to join components.
  • Load or feed pieces into welding machines.
  • Give directions to other workers regarding machine set-up and use.
  • Correct problems by adjusting controls or stopping machines.
  • Inspect, measure, or test completed metal work pieces using gauges and fixtures.
  • Record production information on reports.
  • Perform basic MIG welding of galvanized steel.
  • Interpret blueprints and work orders for instructions.
  • Assemble and clamp pieces into fixtures for bonding, heat-treating, or soldering.
  • Follow universal standards to meet codes and requirements.
  • Use precision tools to inspect grooves and angles.
  • Conduct weld quality tests and keep records.

Job Summary

Set up, operate, or tend welding, soldering, or brazing machines for metal products, components, or assemblies. Read blueprints, work orders, or production schedules and inspect, measure, or test completed metal work pieces.

P Rimary Duties And Responsibilities
  • Set up, operate, or tend welding machines that join or bond components to fabricate metal products or assemblies.
  • Load or feed work pieces into welding machines to join or bond components.
  • Give directions to other workers regarding machine set-up and use.
  • Correct problems by adjusting controls or by stopping machines and opening holding devices.
  • Inspect, measure, or test completed metal work pieces to ensure conformance to specifications, using measuring and testing devices.
  • Record operational information on specified production reports.
  • Basic MIG welding of galvanized steel.
  • Interpret blueprints, work orders, or production schedules to determine product or job instructions or specifications.
  • Assemble, align, and clamp work pieces into holding fixtures to bond, heat‑treat, or solder fabricated metal components.
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervision.
  • Implement universal standards and specs in order to meet building codes and legal requirements
  • Use precision measuring tools to inspect grooves and angles
  • Conduct tests to check weld quality, including hydrostatic, x‑ray, and dimension tolerance
Education And Experience Profile
  • High school diploma or GED certificate and/or industrial experience.
  • Ability to read blueprints
  • Ability to do basic math
  • Basic understanding of electricity
  • Understanding of metallurgy
