This hands-on role involves preparing, fitting, welding, and finishing metal components and assemblies in accordance with engineering drawings, technical specifications, and production requirements.

The successful candidate will work with materials such as mild steel and stainless steel, utilizing multiple welding processes and specialized industrial equipment to produce high-quality components. Responsibilities include material preparation, equipment setup, weld inspection, defect correction, and final assembly preparation.

This position requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, the ability to interpret technical drawings, and a commitment to workplace safety, quality workmanship, and continuous skill development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safety Compliance: Follow all established safety procedures, wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), and maintain a safe working environment.

  • Workplace Organization: Maintain clean, organized work areas in accordance with 5S principles and established manufacturing standards.

  • Welding & Fabrication: Set up, prepare, weld, and finish fabricated and machined components according to approved procedures, technical drawings, and production specifications.

  • Welding Processes: Perform welding using applicable processes, including MIG (GMAW), TIG (GTAW), stick welding (SMAW), submerged arc welding (SAW), stud welding, and other specialized methods as trained and qualified.

  • Material Preparation: Select, load, position, mark, measure, and prepare materials and components for welding and fabrication operations.

  • Equipment Setup: Configure welding tables, fixtures, tooling, and related equipment to ensure proper alignment, fit, and positioning before welding.

  • Technical Drawing Interpretation: Read and follow engineering drawings, bills of materials, technical data sheets, work instructions, and other specifications to ensure accurate fabrication.

  • Quality Assurance: Inspect completed and in-process welds for accuracy, tolerances, clearances, and workmanship using established inspection procedures and checklists.

  • Defect Correction: Identify and repair weld defects and other fabrication issues discovered during self-inspection or by quality personnel and other departments.

  • Material Handling: Safely load, unload, and transfer components and completed assemblies using carts, pallets, fixtures, overhead cranes, forklifts, and other approved material-handling equipment.

  • Tool & Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine equipment care, address minor equipment issues when authorized, and submit maintenance work orders as needed.

  • Cleanliness & Contamination Control: Complete required cleaning and contamination-prevention procedures, including vacuuming, magnetic sweeps, and cleaning equipment and tooling.

  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with supervisors, team leads, engineering, quality assurance, environmental health and safety, production planning, and fellow manufacturing employees.
