Job summary

DWM Holdings in Warren, MI seeks a 2nd shift Production Team Welder to fit and weld steel and aluminum using MIG and TIG processes. The role requires working with welding documentation, WPS, PQR, and WPQR, and reports to the Plant Manager in the Production department.

The ideal candidate will be able to read blueprints, perform quality inspections, and lift up to 75 pounds. Associates degree preferred; willing to train on 1st shift before transitioning to2nd.

Qualifications

  • Must have welding experience and be able to pass a welding test on company products.
  • Familiar with welding documentation (WPS, PQR, WPQR).
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings.
  • Willing to work 40+ hours per week and transition from 1st shift to 2nd shift.

Responsibilities

  • Fit and weld steel and aluminum using MIG and/or TIG processes.
  • Adhere to safe work practices per ANSI Z49.1 and company policy.
  • Perform in-process quality inspections and repairs as needed.
  • Maintain organized work area following 6S principles.
  • Operate welding equipment and handle daily/weekly responsibilities.

Job Description

DWM Holdings is seeking the ideal candidate to fill a 2nd shift Production Team Welder position. The Production Team Welder will be responsible for fitting and welding of steel and aluminum using a MIG and/or TIG process, and work on special projects as required. This person reports directly to the Plant Manager and is a member of the Production department.

Training Transition

This position will train on 1st shift and then transition to 2nd shift once the ideal candidate is fully trained.

Responsibilities
  • Understands and applies safe work practices in accordance with ANSIZ49.1 and company policy
  • Familiar with welding documentation such as WPS, PQR, WPQR.
  • Able to locate and understand shielding gas, filler metal, and base material certifications
  • Experienced in welding to AWS D1.1 Structural Steel and AWS D1.2 Structural Aluminum standards
  • Proficient with GMAW (MIG) using solid wire and metal core (FCAW experience is useful)
  • Capable of performing fillet welds in the flat and horizontal positions, fixed and rotated
  • Consistently produces structurally sound, aesthetically pleasing welds in a fast-paced production environment
  • Performs in-process quality inspections of own work and executes high- quality repairs quickly
  • Takes full ownership of a welding machine and adheres to a daily/weekly
PM schedule
  • Maintains a clean and organized work area in accordance with 6S principles and company policy
  • Utilizes thermal-cutting equipment such as flame-cutting torch or plasma-arc equipment to fabricate parts
  • Fills cavities or corrects malformation in parts and hammers out bulges and bends in metal workpieces

  • Thrives in a collaborative team setting
  • Able to pass a practical weld test on company products, using sample drawings and WPS
  • Ability to perform physical requirements of the job (prolonged physical exertions, including standing, lifting, pushing, pulling, squatting, bending, kneeling, climbing and working in challenging positions and tight areas)
  • Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds
  • Demonstrated commitment to professional development and lifelong learning
  • Ability to read and interpret documents furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form such as blueprints, drawings, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, quality manuals and procedure manuals
  • Must be reliable, self-motivated, and have a strong work ethic.
  • Willing to work 40+ hours a week, Second Shift
  • Associates Degree in Welding Technology highly preferred. Candidates possessing an equivalent combination of training and experience are also encouraged to apply
