Associate II, Welder Overview
- Weld and assemble different pieces using handheld welding equipment such as hand tools, clamps, jigs, and fixtures; utilize various materials (plate steel, sheet steel, structural steel, tubing)
- Prepare and complete work on materials by welding, cutting, grinding, and cleaning metal
- Test and inspect welded components to ensure they meet specifications before moving to the next department
- Work from different specifications and shop orders
- Utilize tools like rulers, squares, templates, and gauges for measurements
- Operate cranes, hoists, and lift tables
- Report damages on machines and equipment; maintain equipment safety
- Report unsafe conditions to management
- Monitor and control robotic welding processes
- Operate robotic welding equipment
- Perform visual inspection of weld quality
- Program robotic welding systems
- Provide work reports and feedback to supervisors or engineering teams
- Set up and prepare robotic welding equipment
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
- Comply with health and safety guidelines
- Maintain confidentiality of company information
- Maintain professional knowledge through workshops, publications, and networking
- Contribute to team efforts and participate in projects
Associate II, Welder Qualifications
- No minimum education required
- At least 1 year of robotic welding experience
- Basic knowledge of MIG welding, handheld plasma machines, and cutting torches
- Knowledge of welding techniques, material characteristics, and structural fundamentals
- Preferred: Robotic welding certification, experience with solid core wires, argon/oxygen gases, MIG welding of structural steel and plate, 3-5 years of robotic welding experience
