Job summary

Martin Sprocket & Gear, Inc. is seeking a production welder for our 2nd shift to complete welding tasks on parts, inspect finished work, and ensure conformance to blueprints and process sheets. The role requires standing, lifting, and the ability to operate cranes or hoists as needed.

You will Weld 3G/4G in carbon and stainless steel, with MIG experience essential. Prior stick/flux-core experience is a plus, and a strong emphasis on accuracy and teamwork is expected.

Qualifications

  • Must weld 3G and 4G positions in carbon and stainless steel.
  • MIG welding experience required in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with Stick and Flux Core welding is a plus.
  • Experience with grinding tools and machines preferred.
  • Able to read and comprehend instructions in English; keep logs/reports in English.

Responsibilities

  • Weld metal parts using MIG welding process from blueprints/process sheets.
  • Inspect welds and use grinding tools as needed throughout the process.
  • Maneuver large or heavy parts, using manual handling or crane.
  • Maintain clean, safe work area and machines; check tolerances.
  • Work in other areas or departments as assigned.
  • Second Shift: 3:00pm - 11:00pm, Monday–Friday.

What will you do?

Complete welding processes on parts, using blueprints and process sheets. Check and inspect completed parts before sending to next department.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Weld metal parts using MIG welding process
  • Work from process sheets, blueprints or other written/verbal instructions given by supervisor to perform production tasks.
  • Maneuver large, awkward, or heavy parts manually or with a crane.
  • Inspect welds throughout process and use grinding tools when necessary
  • Maintain machine and work area in a clean and safe manner.
  • Check and inspect operation against predetermined tolerances.
  • Work in other areas or departments as assigned.
  • Second Shift: 3:00pm - 11:00pm (Monday - Friday)

  • Must have MIG welding experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with Stick and Flux Core welding a plus

  • Simple oral communication skills; ability to read and comprehend instructions written in English and complete simple logs and reports in English
  • Must be physically able to handle heavy items including lifting, pushing, pulling, and positioning components
  • Must be able to work scheduled hours and comply with the company's timekeeping policy and all other company policies
  • Must be able to consistently stand for entire shift
  • Knowledge of basic machining practices and materials is a plus, as is general mechanical knowledge
