Job summary

Cornerstone Building Brands is seeking a welder/fitter for 2nd shift (3:15 pm - 1:45 am) at our Monticello, IA facility. Base pay starts at $23.00-$26.00 per hour plus a $1.00 per hour shift differential. Responsibilities include welding to spec, reading blueprints, and operating overhead cranes.

Associates degree or equivalent and 1–3 years welding experience preferred. Candidate must lift up to 50 lbs and drive a forklift. Full-time benefits apply.

Qualifications

• Associates degree or equivalent from a 2-year college or technical school.
• 1–3 years welding experience or equivalent manufacturing welder/fitter background.
• Ability to read blueprints and documents and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Know and follow all safety rules for a manufacturing environment.
• Coordinate welder settings, gun speed/travel and gas flow as bead conditions dictate.
• Read a tape measure and blueprints to shop standard.
• Adjust welding parameters as needed and repair pin holes/burn-through.
• Train others on welding procedures and operate overhead crane and lifting equipment.
• Maintain bead shape, size, and penetration per specifications.
• Maintain orderly numerical/alphabetical sequences and support continuous improvement.

JOB DETAILS

Base pay starts at $23.00 - 26.00 per hourplus $1.00 per hour shift differential

2nd Shift: 3:15 pm - 1:45 am

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Knows and understands all safety rules and precautions necessary for working in and about a manufacturing environment
• Responsible for coordination of welder settings, gun speed/travel and gas flow with the observed condition of bead
• Read a tape measure and blueprints to shop standard
• Decide when adjustment or gun manipulation needs to be altered
• Decide how much and what repairs to make for pin holes and burn-through caused by an auto welder
• Train and teach proper welding procedures in accordance with manufacturing job procedures
• Operate overhead crane and other lifting equipment
• Responsible for holding beads to specified shapes, sizes, and penetrations while maintaining the quality of the product
• Keeping numerical and alphabetical sequences correct
• Maintains continuous improvement practices in thework area
• May be assigned other projects and duties as designated by Team Leader

Qualifications

• Associates degree or equivalent from a 2-year College or technical school; or (1) to three (3) years working experience in welding; or equivalent combination of education and experience as a welder/fitter in the manufacturing industry
• Read blueprints and drawings
• Read and comprehend documents including but not limited to policy manuals, safety rules/programs, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and simple correspondence
• Ability to communicate information effectively one-on-one and in small group situations and settings is required
• Perform general mathematic calculations including but not limited to addition, subtraction, multiplication, fractions, percentages, and division.
• Required to use power hand tools
• Required to drive a forklift
• Ability to work effectively to meet deadlines
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a continual basis above shoulder height and below the waist
