Job Summary

Perform semi-skilled work in inspecting, repairing, rebuilding, and assembling equipment such as turbines, fans, valves, and pumps sent to Central Machine Shop and at other locations. This is an entry-level position.

Job Description

What You'll Do:
  • Perform manual metal arc, TIG, GMAW, and oxyacetylene welding in all positions, including safe operation of submerged arc welding equipment.
  • Support ID fan repairs: QC, cleaning, disassembly, and assembly.
  • Assist in stress relieving and apply hard surfacing materials.
  • Assist in installing turbine erosion shields via silver brazing.
  • Maintain the Central Machine Shop building and equipment.
  • Assist colleagues and report irregularities or abnormal conditions.
  • Adhere to safety regulations and shop practices.
  • Support AEP's cultural goals and perform similar or less skilled work as assigned.
What We're Looking For:
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • At least 3 years of successful welding experience with a basic understanding of welding concepts.
  • Successful completion of the Plant Maintenance Selection System (MASS) test.
  • Physical demand level: Medium (lifting 20-50 pounds occasionally, 10-25 pounds frequently).
