Job summary

Eaton’s ES AMER ARS division is seeking a Welder - 1st Shift in Williamsburg, VA. The position offers $24/hr base plus $1/hr shift differential. Hours are 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, with several comprehensive benefits starting day one, including health and retirement programs and paid holidays.

The welder will be part of a manufacturing team performing MIG and TIG welding, following BOMs and instructions, and assisting other fabricators as needed to meet daily goals.

Qualifications

  • Requires High School diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of one year MIG and TIG welding experience or a technical diploma in welding.
  • No relocation benefit; reside within 50 miles of the work location.

  • Interpret manufacturing information, bills of material, and instructions.
  • Prepare materials and fixtures, obtain materials from stock areas.
  • Assist other sheet metal fabricators as needed.

  • Operate spot welders and interface with robotic welding.
  • Complete prep such as wiping, degreasing, deburring, or grinding of components.
  • Maintain equipment and document relevant quality/maintenance data.

What you’ll do:

The welder will work as part of a manufacturing team to ensure daily goals and objectives are achieved in the welding department.

  • MIG(Metal Inert Gas) and TIG(Tungsten Inert Gas) welding
  • Perform work from manufacturing information, bills of material, written and/or oral instructions.
  • Utilize manufacturing information, determine necessary parts/inventory, jigs/fixtures, and obtain materials from stock areas
  • Provide assistance to other sheet metal fabricators / operators in performance of their duties as required
  • Be responsible to deliver material to/from workstations using material handling equipment, position work material on work surface. Ensure correct parts and matching documentation reach next process in a timely fashion
  • Operate spot welders and interface with robotic welding
  • Complete necessary preparation steps such as wiping, degreasing, de-burring, or grinding of components
  • Pick up and place scrap in appropriate containers. Documentation/record keeping may be required
  • Operate spot welders, arc welders, cutting torch, power grinder, power sanders, hand-tools, bandsaws, drills, temporary fixturing devices, jigs and fixtures, and other metal‑fabrication equipment as directed.
  • Inspect parts periodically or as directed utilizing manufacturing information such as drawings / blueprints, make necessary adjustments as required. Keep accurate piece count and other applicable records. Inform Supervisor of any quality problems
  • Be responsible for maintenance of equipment such as welding electrodes, oiling/greasing, machine settings, changing of tooling, and minor adjustments may be necessary.
  • Complete necessary maintenance check sheets and inform Supervisor and / or Maintenance personnel of any problems
  • Perform other duties as required including flexing to other departments.
Qualifications:
Required (Basic) Qualifications:
  • Must have a High School diploma or GED from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of one (1) year of MIG and TIG welding experience or a technical diploma or certification in welding from an accredited institution
  • No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates that currently reside within 50 miles of the work location will be considered. Active-Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience demonstrating proficiency of welding techniques, shop blueprint/drawing comprehension, and shop math skills
  • Minimum of two (2) years of welding experience
Skills:
Position Criteria:
  • Possess strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to read and understand wiring schematics, blueprints, and drawings
  • Able to move material as needed using material handling carts (push/pull 50lbs)
  • Able to lift/carry up to 50 lbs
  • Team player and able to collaborate with others to effectively complete work assignments per customer orders
  • Willingness to participate in training opportunities
