Job summary

CFS Brands in Wausau, WI is seeking a Welding Associate I to perform aluminum welding with TIG and MIG on light gauge material under the Production Supervisor.

You will read blueprints, lay out parts, weld per specifications, grind and polish, and operate welding equipment and basic hand tools. A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred and tech school welding coursework or prior welding experience is required; safety and teamwork are emphasized.

Responsibilities

• Performs welding processes per blueprints/drawings/verbal directions.
• Performs hand grinding and polishing.
• Keeps equipment operational by preventive maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Maintains a safe and clean working environment by following procedures and regulations.
• Conserves resources by using equipment and supplies efficiently.
• Documents actions by completing production and quality forms.
• Contributes to team effort by completing related tasks.
• Performs Daily Pre-shift Checklist.

Title: Welding Associate I

Reports to: Production Supervisor

Location: Wausau, WI

Shift/Hours: 1st Shift/Monday-Friday, 5:00am - 1:30pm

About the Role:

The Welding Associate, level I, performs aluminum welding processes with TIG, MIG on light gauge 12 through 20 stainless steel and aluminum. The Welding Associate welds all types of commonly used metals and alloys of various sizes, shapes, and thicknesses, including metals such as copper to steel. Able to operate miscellaneous hand-welding, torch-cutting, or welding equipment for welding or join metal components or to fill holes, dents, or seams in fabricated metal products. Able to configure, operate, and/or monitor robots that perform welding or heat treatment work on products, components, or metal assemblies.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints and /or drawings and follow verbal directions to determine the specific welding requirements.
• Lays out/positions parts by using templates or reading measurements.
• Performs welding processes based on specifications from blueprints, drawings or verbal directions.
• Performs hand grinding and polishing.
• Keeps equipment operational by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer’s instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.
• Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
• Conserves resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
• Documents actions by completing production and quality forms.
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed.
• Performs Daily Pre-shift Checklist.

Education And Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Tech school coursework in welding or prior welding experience is required
• Strong Mechanical aptitude is necessary.
• A solid understanding of Aluminum, TIG, and MIG welding concepts and processes is required.
• Must be able to read a ruler and be able to operate common hand tools, air tools, drills, sanders, grinders, etc.
