Job summary

Forma-Fab Metals in North Carolina is seeking a welder/fabricator to join our shop team. You will weld and fabricate parts per specifications using MIG and TIG equipment, read blueprints, and ensure quality with good penetration.

The role requires HS education and at least 2 years of welding experience, ability to read tapes, rulers, and welding symbols, and readiness to work overtime. A welding test will be part of the application process.

Qualifications

• Able to weld heavy and light gauge carbon steel, aluminum, and stainless.
• Read and interpret blueprints, welding process specs, and symbols.
• Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment with good penetration and quality.

Job description

Shift: Monday-Thursday 6:00 am - 4:30 pm, overtime as needed

Position Summary:

To weld and fabricate parts in accordance with specifications and per company workmanship standards by performing the following functions.

Essential Functions include but are not limited to:

• Perform efficient welding of various metal objects, including heavy and light gauge carbon steel, aluminum, and stainless, using both MIG and TIG equipment
• Analyze blueprints/drawings, specifications, sketches, work orders, and material safety data sheets to plan layout, assembly, and welding operations
• Set up, troubleshoot, and adjust equipment
• Layout, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies prior to assembly, using straightedges, combination squares, calipers, and rulers
• Report all non-conforming material to the Welding Team Leader and/or Shop Foreman immediately
• Input and maintain data in ERP computer system/Global

Requirements:

• Maintain excellent attendance and possess the flexibility to work overtime
• HS education with a minimum of 2 years welding experience
• Possess a solid understanding of welding equipment and tooling
• Must be able to read and interpret blueprints, welding process specifications, and welding symbols
• Must be able to operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments
• Must have the ability to weld in all positions with good penetration and quality
• Must be able to read a tape measure, pressure gauge, level, square, and use a variety of power tools
• Work independently and follow direction
• Basic computer skills

A welding test will be administered as part of the application process
