Job summary

Alamo Group Inc. is seeking a Welder to join our manufacturing team in Alabama. The Welder will support profitability and efficiency by performing non-critical welds on fabricated parts per blueprints and welding procedures.

The role requires preparing surfaces, validating weld quality, and ensuring safe operation of equipment. Under supervision, you will load fixtures, perform measurements, and assist other welders as needed.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 3 months to 1 year welding experience.
• Must be able to read blueprints with weld symbols.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds alone and 100 pounds with assistance.

Responsibilities

• Welds non-critical fabricated parts and subassemblies as specified by blueprints or welding procedures.
• Adjusts and operates welding equipment to maintain production quantities and quality.
• Prepares surfaces by grinding, buffing or brushing for welding.
• Maintains equipment and makes adjustments for different parts.

Position Summary:

Bush Hog, RhinoAg, and Dixie Chopper are among the most recognized and successful brands in the Agricultural and Outdoor Power Equipment Market. The Welder is a key position in the Company and will support and contribute to the company goals of profitability, return on investment, inventory turnover, and accident prevention. The Welder, under direct supervision by Team Leader or Supervisor, welds non-critical fabricated parts and subassemblies as specified by blueprints, layouts or welding procedures. Welds are performed on non-critical parts or subassemblies where cosmetics may not be a factor.

Essential Functions of the Job:

• Focus, communicate, encourage and contribute to Safety in all aspects of the job and all company meetings
• Adjusts and operates welding equipment to perform non-critical welds on fabricated parts and subassemblies. Maintains production quantities, efficiencies and quality on parts welded
• Loads fabricated parts or subassemblies into jigs and fixtures. Prepares the surface to be welded by grinding, buffing or brushing so the weld can be performed. Visually examines welds for adherence to blueprint specifications
• Maintains welding equipment and makes adjustments on equipment to prepare it to weld different parts or subassemblies when changing from one part to the other
• Loads and unloads fixtures
• Performs simple measurements using devices or gauges to check work
• May skip weld designed parts to secure pieces for other welders
• Perform all other duties assigned by the Supervisor

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA’s):

• Ability to understand and follow simple instructions
• Capable of performing standard measurements
• Knowledge of basic procedures of mig welding required
• Ability to lift, push or pull 50 pounds alone and 100 pounds with assistance
• Must be able to speak, hear and see to perform duties to communicate and build subassemblies
• Must be able to demonstrate required knowledge and ability to read blueprints with weld symbols and specifications

Education and Experience:

• High School diploma or GED required
• Minimum 3 months to 1 year experience in welding required
