Job summary

Vermeer in Pella, IA is seeking a Welder I for hands-on welding across multiple positions. You will read blueprints, set up fixtures, and perform tack welds while following Vermeer standards and safety practices.

You'll build foundational welding expertise in a collaborative environment, complete the Weld Training Program with AWS GMAW-P certification, and contribute to continuous improvement and quality.

Qualifications

• Entry-level welding experience or formal training.
• Willing to complete Weld Training Program and AWS GMAW-P certification to D14.0 standard.
• Ability to read blueprints and welding symbols.
• Proficient in decimal-based measurements for precision.
• Access and interpret digital work instructions/drawings.
• Strong problem-solving and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Complete weldments in various positions per blueprints and specifications.
• Prepare, position, and align components using fixtures; bolt, clamp, tack weld as needed.
• Operate oxyfuel cutting torch for preheating and maintain welding equipment.
• Read and interpret blueprints and welding symbols with decimal-based measurements.
• Access digital drawings and work instructions via computer systems.
• Identify welding defects and support root cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Support 5S and workplace organization to improve efficiency.
