Job summary

Vermeer in Griswold, CT is seeking a Welder I to produce high-quality equipment and to develop foundational welding skills in a collaborative, safety-focused environment. You will complete weldments per blueprints and welding standards while contributing to continuous improvement.

The role includes training through Vermeer’s Weld Training Program and AWS GMAW-P certification, with opportunities to grow in precision welding, quality control, and process improvement as you gain experience.

Qualifications

• Entry-level welding experience or formal training preferred.
• Complete Vermeer Weld Training Program and AWS GMAW-P to D14.0 in 1G-UL position; willing to learn FCAW for 3F/4F positions.
• Read blueprints and welding symbols; apply decimal-based measurements for precision.
• Access digital work instructions and drawings via computer systems; read and interpret instructions.

Responsibilities

• Complete weldments in various positions per blueprints and welding procedure specs.
• Prepare, position, and align components using fixtures; bolt, clamp, tack weld parts.
• Safely operate oxyfuel cutting torch for preheating and maintain welding equipment.
• Read and interpret blueprints and welding symbols; apply decimal measurements for precision.
• Access digital drawings and work instructions via computer systems.
• Identify welding defects and support root cause analysis with corrective actions.
• Support 5S and maintain a clean, organized work area.
