Hours

  • 6:00 am- 2:30 pm (Monday- Friday)
  • Occasional overtime on Saturdays

Compensation

At S&C, we are dedicated to providing competitive and equitable compensation for all our team members, with a commitment to transparency in our pay practices. The estimated hourly base pay rate for this position is $24.00 per hour.This role is also eligible for S&C’s annual short-term incentive bonus, subject to eligibility criteria.

Are you passionate about welding? S&C Electric Company is seeking a dynamic individual to coordinate our weldingfunction. As a welderyou’ll be crucial in ensuring smooth operations and supporting our diverse team. The Welder-Basic is responsible for performing various welding tasks to assemble metal structures and parts. The role involves using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments. This position requires adherence to safety protocols, precision in execution, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment to ensure the production of high-quality welded products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute welding operations to join, fabricate, and repair metal and other weldable material.
  • Set up and operate manual and semi-automatic (robotic) welding equipment.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, specifications, and job orders to determine appropriate welding processes.
  • Ensure welding is completed to the required standards and specifications.
  • Inspect welded surfaces and structures to identify defects and ensure conformity with specifications. Deburr pieces to create appropriate welding services when necessary.
  • Robotic Welders: Operate and program robotic welding equipment. Set up robotic welding systems for production runs. Monitor robotic welding operations and make necessary adjustments to ensure quality. Troubleshoot and resolve issues with robotic welding equipment.
  • Work collaboratively with team members and other departments to achieve production goals.
  • Record and report production data accurately and timely.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance welding processes.
  • Meet department targets and consistently adhere to quality and safety standards.
  • Understand and comply with all applicable Company policies and rules.

What you’ll Need To Succeed:

Knowledge of shop math, welding applications and practices.

Ability to read blueprints and follow specific written instructions and procedures.

Ability to understand measuring equipment such as micrometers and dial calipers.

Ability to organize, prioritize and plan daily work assignments in a self-directed changing environment.

One to three years Mig and Tig welding experience required.

Major Physical Demands:

Standing: Most tasks are performed in a standing position with intermittent walking.

Lifting: Frequent lifting of items ranging in weight from 5 lbs. to 20 lbs.; occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.

Walking: Occasional walking of moderate distances (<1/8 miles).

Carrying: Occasional carrying of items weighing less than 20 lbs.

Pushing: Occasional positioning of tub titlers and use of hand trucks to move parts and tooling a moderate distance.

Pulling: Occasional positioning of tub titlers and use of hand trucks to move parts and tooling a moderate distance.

Bending: Occasional bending to perform a variety of job tasks.

Reaching: Frequent reaching to load and unload parts from fixture in machine or tubs.

Handling: Continuous handling of parts ranging in weight from 5 lbs. to 20 lbs. along with a variety of hand tools.
