Job summary

Globe Tech is seeking a Welder for 1st and 2nd shifts in Plymouth, MI. You will weld high-volume production and prototype stampings to meet print specifications, ensuring quality and efficiency.

Responsibilities include inspecting parts, setting up tools, and maintaining tools and fixtures while adhering to ISO and safety requirements. You may help with other manufacturing tasks and support continuous improvements.

Qualifications

  • GED or High School Diploma required.
  • 1-3 years related experience preferred.
  • Basic computer and ERP system experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Weld diverse materials to meet print specifications.
  • Inspect parts using standard tools and perform first-piece inspections.
  • Set up welding tools and fixtures; minimize distortion.
  • Operate other shop equipment as needed and maintain safety.
  • Cross-train as back-up in other manufacturing areas.
  • Propose quality or productivity improvements.

Role Description

To be part of a high performing welding team, welding high volume production and prototype metal stampings, ensuring high quality welds that are in line with print specifications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   • Ensure that all welds meet the high expectations of the customer
  • Responsible for the proper packaging, identifying and moving of all finished products to the proper location.
  • Ability to utilize standard inspection tools to verify parts meet print specifications
  • Perform first piece inspections as well as all subsequent inspections as required by standard.
  • Welding a variety of raw materials using the proper weld settings in order to minimize distortion, overheating, expansion, etc.
  • Utilizing weld fixtures to properly clamp, tack, or hold the pieces as required.
  • Maintaining and setting up necessary welding tools.
  • Examining sub-component parts and finished assemblies to blueprints using standard quality tools.
  • Operating other equipment as necessary and directed by the manufacturing supervisor (grinding, sanding, etc.).
  • May operate a fork lift periodically, as needed, following training.
  • MIG welding
  • Perform simple maintenance and repair as required.
  • Will be required to cross-train as back-up in other areas of the manufacturing plant.
  • Propose potential quality or productivity enhancements i.e. continual improvements.
  • Working safely as a condition of employment.
  • Ability to perform additional related assignments and work overtime as needed.
