Job summary

Steele Solutions Inc. is seeking a welder to join our fabrication team in Wisconsin. The welder will read blueprints, lay out parts, and weld and assemble metal components using various welding equipment.

The role requires 2+ years of welding experience, preferably with .045 wire, and a high school diploma. Welding certification is preferred, and safety compliance is a must in our manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, weld symbols, specifications, and work orders.
  • Lay out, align, position, and secure parts and assemblies using appropriate measuring tools.
  • Select proper tooling and fixturing and determine the appropriate welding sequence.
  • Assemble and weld metal components using various welding equipment.
  • Prepare surfaces for welding by removing rust, scale, slag, grease, moisture, and other contaminants.
  • Operate hoists, cranes, rigging, dollies, and other equipment to safely move materials.
  • Inspect and measure completed work to ensure it meets specifications and quality standards.
  • Use precision measuring tools, tape measures, straightedges, and blueprints to verify dimensions.
  • Clean work pieces and finished products as needed.
  • Properly mark and identify materials with job numbers, piece marks, and other required information.
  • Complete required production paperwork accurately and on time.
  • Complete assigned work safely, efficiently, and according to specifications.
  • Follow all company safety, sanitation, and quality procedures.
  • Perform other manufacturing duties as assigned.

Job description

Position Summary.

1st and 2nd Shift positions available. Under the direction of the Fabrication Supervisor, the Welder is responsible for welding and assembling structural components according to blueprints and specifications. This position supports company goals while maintaining a strong commitment tosafety, quality, integrity, respect, and on-time delivery.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, weld symbols, specifications, and work orders.

Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; extensive welding experience may be considered.
  • Welding certification preferred.
  • 2+ years of welding experience, preferably with .045 wire welding.
Skills & Knowledge:
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and manufacturing documents.
  • Ability to read and understand weld symbols.
  • Proficient in using a tape measure and basic measuring equipment.
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety; OSHA training is a plus.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement practices, preferably Lean Manufacturing and 6S.
Communication & Math Skills:
  • Ability to read and understand safety rules, production schedules, work instructions, and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to follow written, verbal, and diagram-based instructions and solve routine production problems.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to stand, walk, and use hands to handle tools, equipment, and materials for extended periods.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and move up to50 pounds.
  • Ability to work safely around moving mechanical equipment.
  • Requires close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception.

Work Environment:
  • Manufacturing environment with frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts.
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required.
