Job description

Responsible for various types of welding preparation, MIG welding, Robotic Welding (Load and Unload), and metal finishing operations to manufacture product to customer drawings, specifications, or other forms of instruction.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities (the what)

  • Follow all Spacesaver safety policies and procedures. Learn and perform start up and shut down procedures, ergonomic practices, E-stops, Lock Out Tagout procedures. Understand pinch points and adjust light curtain.
  • Perform Standard Work by following Work/Operator Instructions/Training
  • Report defective materials or questionable conditions to the department supervisor.
  • Meet or exceed department’s production efficiency goals.
  • Understand and practice 5S (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, and Sustain).
  • Perform required preventative maintenance on machines as required.
  • Complete tasks as directed by manufacturing schedules with minimum supervision.
  • Complete quality inspections using precision measuring devices.
  • Perform problem solving and containment. Perform in-process documentation and non-conforming material process.
  • Complete all required record documentation.
  • Support and participate in assignments in other work areas, as work load demands change.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities.
  • Use Spacesaver’s ERP system to join and leave a work center as a team member or operator, start/stop shop orders, and report quantities of acceptable and scrap product.
  • Adhere to scheduled work hours and be available to work overtime as needed.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred, and 3-5 years of experience or a technical degree and 1 year of experience.
  • Achievement of a passing score on required assessments.
  • Complete all assigned developmental training plans, classes, and certifications.
  • Solid PC familiarity, navigation, scanning, and data entry.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions and memos in the English language. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information one-on-one to other team members. *Please note that translation assistant can be provided through a request to HR.
  • Able to read tape measures and efficiently operate all other required measuring devices such as calipers, measuring tables, protractors and other measuring equipment.
  • Proven ability to work effectively independently and in a team environment.
  • Good time management skills, ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and be attentive to detail.
Physical Demands AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

The team member frequently is required to use arms to reach, rotate, flip, material and/or parts. Regularly uses hands to grasp, handle, and/or feel. The team member is regularly required to bend and twist and occasionally kneel. The team member must repetitively lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Team members are also required to frequently talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Team members in this role are exposed to seasonal temperature/humidity changes.
