Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. is seeking a Welder for the 2nd shift in Sanford, NC to join a skilled team fabricating and inspecting welded components. The role includes operating MIG welding machines, maintaining quality, and following standard work procedures. The position offers Day ONE benefits and a quarterly bonus.

Starting pay is $21.70 per hour with an 8% shift premium; the role requires physical stamina and teamwork to meet production goals.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Operate robotic and manual MIG weld machines to produce components
• Inspect own work using weld gauges and measuring tools
• Perform in-station repair on defective welds with carbon arc process
• Clear robotic welding system faults and assist with routine maintenance
• Move heavy components using lifting devices and position in weld fixtures
• Follow standard work procedures and blueprints for safe, defect-free output
• Adhere to CPS principles of 5S, CI ideas, waste elimination, and standard work
• Responsible for process and final inspections

2nd Shift: Monday-Friday 2:15 PM - 10:15 PM

As a Welder At Caterpillar You Will

• Uses various tools provided in the work area to perform welding duties including but not limited to:- Operating robotic and manual MIG weld machines.
• Inspecting own work including quality checks utilizing weld and attribute gauges and other measuring tools.
• Performing in station repair on defective welds utilizing carbon air arc process, grinders, etc.
• Clearing common robotic welding system faults
• Mechanical job duties may include: - Use of lifting devices to move heavy components of weights of more than 35 lbs to position heavy fabricated metal components in weld fixtures.
• Perform routine maintenance (wire change, tip/nozzle change)
• Follows documented procedures standard work, routings, and blueprints to perform safe and defect free operations to create and machine components.
• Follows and utilizes CPS principles of 5S, Continuous Improvement Idea Reporting, Waste Elimination, and Standard Work.
• Responsible for process and final inspections.
