Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. is hiring a Welder 3 for 1st shift operations in Michigan. You will weld and repair components using MIG and carbon air arc processes, perform inspections, and follow blueprints with 5S and continuous improvement practices.

Ideal candidates have at least 1 year of welding and carbon air arc experience, and can pass 2F/4F/2G weld tests. Benefits begin Day ONE and include a bonus opportunity.

Qualifications

• At least one year of welding experience.
• At least one year of carbon air arc experience.
• Must be able to pass 2F fillet weld, 4F fillet weld (overhead) & 2G groove weld tests.

Responsibilities

• Uses various tools to perform welding duties including manual MIG welding.
• Repair defective welds using carbon air arc process and grinders.
• Inspect own work with weld gauges and measuring tools.
• Move heavy components up to 35 lbs with lifting devices.
• Complete routine maintenance in all qualified workstations.
• Rotate to positions within the job function area.
• Follow documented procedures, standard work, routings and blueprints.
• Follow CPS principles of 5S, Improvement ideas, Waste Elimination and Standard Work.
• Responsible for process and final inspections.
• Work as part of a team and maintain a safe, clean area.

What this looks like:

• 1st Shift: Monday - Friday 6:15 am - 2:15 pm, Overtime as business needs require

• 1st Shift Starting Pay: $26.75/hour

As a Welder 3 at Caterpillar, you will:

• Uses various tools provided in the work area to perform welding duties including but not limited to manual MIG Welding

• Repair defective welds utilizing carbon air arc process, grinders, etc.

• Inspect own work including quality checks utilizing weld and attribute gages and other measuring tools.

• Use lifting devices to move heavy components of weights of more than 35 lbs.

• Complete routine maintenance (wire change, tip/nozzle change) in all qualified workstations.

• Rotate to various positions within the Job Function area to perform related activities.

• Follow documented procedures, standard work, routings, and blueprints to perform safe and defect-free operations

• Follow and utilizes CPS principles of 5S, Continuous Improvement Idea Reporting, Waste Elimination, and Standard Work

• Responsible for process and final inspections

• Function as part of a team, willing to be multi-trained and maintain a safe, clean, and orderly work area.

Physical Requirements (with or without reasonable accommodation):

• Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods

• Ability to perform repetitive operations

• Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.

Basic Requirements:

• At least one year of welding experience

• At least one year of carbon air arc experience

Top Candidates will also have:

• Must be able to pass 2F fillet weld, 4F fillet weld (overhead) & 2G groove weld test.

Summary Pay Range:

$26.75 - $33.45
