Job summary

Great Dane is seeking skilled welders to join our production team. You will perform welding on a variety of parts, set up welding equipment, and ensure quality in a fast-paced environment with safety first.

Responsibilities include loading materials, welding in different positions including overhead, and inspecting finished pieces according to standard procedures. Overtime may be required and two weeks of paid vacation are offered.

Qualifications

  • Able to read a tape measure accurately.
  • Able to perform multiple tasks and stay productive.
  • Able to stand and work for long hours in a welding environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform welding on flat, curved, or vertical surfaces.
  • Set welding machine parameters (gas, volts, amps, wire speed).
  • Weld in various positions, including overhead.
  • Load raw materials and parts into the welding machine.

Duties include but are not limited to those described below.ResponsibilitiesWHAT YOU’LL DOAbility to weld on a flat, curved, or vertical surface.Ability to set a welding machine, including the gas, volts, amps, and wire speed.Ability to weld in a variety of positions, particularly overhead.Be able to make minor adjustments to the welding equipment as needed.Properly load raw materials, parts, etc., into the welding machine.Removes work pieces and scrap from machines.Files, grinds, or scrapes sharp edges, burrs, scales, or rust from work pieces.Hammers out bent or warped spots in metal.Sorts, marks, tags finished work.Transports material or signal crane operator to move materials.Compares work piece with straight edge or template to verify conformance to specifications.Cleans work area, machines, tools, and equipment.Performs other routine duties as needed.QualificationsYOUR SKILLS AND ABILITIES (REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS)Employee must be able to use pneumatic power tools and equipment of all types.Employee must be able to accurately read a tape measure.Employee must be able to perform and remember how to perform multiple tasks from day to day.Employee must be able to perform the physical requirements listed in that section of this job description.Employee must look for potential cost savings in the work process, help keep scrap and waste to a minimum and be efficient in the use of all supplies.The employee must perform the assigned tasks in a way they meet or exceed the required production level.The quantity of units, parts, assemblies and/or installations expected will vary with the process performed, customer specification, volume, and location.Welder must inspect his/her product as instructed by standard operating procedures.PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:Ability to do heavy lifting (up to 50 pounds) multiple times daily in an 8-to-12-hour shift.Ability to stand and move about on concrete 8- 12 hours a day.
