About the Opportunity
Under direct supervision, performs welding applications for various trailers, including Utility, Cargo, Gooseneck, Flatbed, and Dump Trailers. Responsible for visual and in-process inspections according to quality standards, reading blueprints, troubleshooting welding issues, and supporting team objectives. Learns to pass welding tests and qualifications.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform work safely and report unsafe practices.
- Learn layout, assembly, and welding procedures.
- Complete reports related to scrap, safety, quality, work orders, inventory, and cycle counts.
- Secure parts with bolts, clamps, and tack welds for welding.
- Assemble parts by bolting as needed.
- Lift and bend regularly, up to 50 pounds, and recognize team lifting opportunities.
- Learn repair techniques including dismantling, straightening, reshaping, cutting, and reassembling parts.
- Use or learn to use fabrication equipment like plasma cutters and welding tools.
- Ensure weld quality, set up structural welds, and read drawings.
- Assist in diagnosing and troubleshooting welding issues.
- Adhere to quality, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- Preferred: Technical courses, vocational or technical training, or military welding training.
- Strong understanding of blueprints and welding specifications.
- Ability to read measuring devices like squares, levels, and tape measures.
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
- Effective communication skills.
- Experience with repair welding using fabrication tools.
- Basic math skills for fabrication calculations.
- Learn to operate fabrication support equipment such as cranes and hoists.
