Basic Function: Welder I joins, fabricates, and repairs metal and other weldable material by applying appropriate welding techniques. This role requires the ability to accurately weld fabricated components and perform welds in various positions – flat, horizontal, vertical up and down.

Essential Functions:

  • Produces high quality K&M products through wire feed welding.
  • Interprets blueprints, specifications, diagrams, or schematics to determine appropriate welding process.
  • Inspects completed welds to determine structural soundness.
  • Sets up and operates various welding equipment.
  • Confers with supervisor and other production personnel to resolve welding problems.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Adhere to company and department safety and work practice policies and procedures
  • Maintains a neat and orderly work area.
  • Accurately records material and job order transactions as directed.
  • Keeps supervisor informed of important developments, potential problems and related information necessary for effective management.
  • Attends training as directed as apparent or assigned.
  • Performs all other duties as apparent or assigned

Secondary Functions:

  • Moves product using pallet jack or forklift (if certified).
  • Assists in the fabrication department as directed. Operates various machines as needed.

Qualifications and Experience:

Required

  • 1-3 years of welding experience or combination of vocational certification and equivalent experience.
  • Pass a Welder I test.
  • Proven ability to work independently.
  • Requires ability to respond quickly to priority changes and work well under pressure due to scheduling constraints, and perform quality work in a safe and efficient manner
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written directions and communicate with other personnel in English.
  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude and work in a manner that promotes a safe working environment.
  • Ability to contribute to the team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Ability to obtain equipment license or power equipment certification as required.
  • Ability to perform Machine Operator duties when required.

Preferred

  • High School education or equivalent, strongly preferred.
