Job summary

Clayton Homes is seeking a welder for the Frame Shop to MIG weld frames, read drawings, and cut I-beams to exact specifications for multiple plants. You will work in a safety-conscious team environment, ensuring products meet sales orders, prints, specifications, and building codes with high-quality standards.

The role requires ability to lift 50 lbs, read drawings, and communicate effectively with team members. High school diploma or GED preferred; MIG welding experience required.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to walk, climb, and lift at least 50lbs, and perform physical duties as needed.
  • You must be able to communicate efficiently and clearly with other Team Members.
  • Ability to read architectural and engineering drawings is greatly desired.

  • Safety: Practice safe work habits to ensure production is efficient and safe while following OSHA regulations.
  • Productivity: Work in a team environment to produce products that meet quality standards and productivity targets.
  • Stewardship: Protect company assets, report needed maintenance, keep area clean and orderly.
  • Planning: Assist Team Leader and Area Manager to plan manufacturing activities and communicate material shortages or maintenance needs.
  • Attendance: Meet all attendance requirements and be available for start of shift at the required time.

Frame Shop Area Manager

General Expectations

Welders in the Frame Shop MIG weld frames, stick weld to camber and use a plasma cutter to cut I-beam for the homes built for Plant 995, Plant 996, and the Middlebury plant.

Production teams ensure that all homes meet sales orders, prints, specifications, and building codes, while ensuring high-quality standards in a timely manner.

Duties / Responsibilities
  • Safety: Practice safe work habits to ensure production is as efficient and safe as possible while observing all relevant OSHA regulations.
  • Productivity: Work in a team environment to produce products that conform to our quality standards while achieving our productivity objectives.
  • Stewardship: Serve as a good steward of our company's physical assets, protecting them from damage and misuse, reporting all needed maintenance, keeping your assigned area clean, and orderly.
  • Planning: Assist your Team Leader and Area Manager to plan and organize the manufacturing activities in your area by communicating anticipated material shortages, identifying required tool maintenance, and communicating any quality and productivity issues.
  • Attendance: Meet all attendance requirements, available for start of shift at required time, and follow the attendance rules and regulations of the plant.
