Job summary

PTMW Inc. in Topeka, KS is seeking a self-motivated, quality-minded Welder to join our production team. You will work on in-house projects and may travel to client locations to perform on-site welding duties.

Weld parts in multiple positions and processes (GMAW, FCAW, GTAW) using steel, aluminum, and stainless steel, following welding procedures. Applicants should have a High School Diploma or equivalent, and a Technical Certificate or degree in welding is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required; Technical Certificate or Degree in Welding preferred.
• 1+ year of welding experience.
• Experience in various welding processes (GMAW, FCAW, GTAW).
• Working knowledge of industry tools and equipment.
• Proficient in basic math and able to read tape measures.
• Able to pass visual and bend tests in various processes and positions on various materials.
• Capable of lifting up to 100lbs.
• Ability to pass pre-employment background check, drug screen, physical capacity test and breath alcohol test.

Responsibilities

• Interpret and follow proper welding procedures and welding symbols on drawings.
• Use calibrated measuring tools to properly fit up assemblies.
• Utilize industry tools and equipment including plasma cutters, oxyacetylene torches, and carbon air arc.
• Weld parts in various positions and processes (GMAW, FCAW, GTAW) and materials (Steel, Aluminum, Stainless Steel).
• Clean and maintain equipment and work area.
• Follow all safety guidelines and procedures.
• Assist in other areas of production as needed.

In this position, welders work on in-house projects as well as possible travel to client locations to perform job duties on site. PTMW, Inc. welders are expected to safely complete each job within specific deadlines to ensure we meet our customers’ needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Interpret and follow proper welding procedures and welding symbols on drawings.
• Use calibrated measuring tools (measuring tapes, squares, etc.) to properly fit up assemblies.
• Utilize industry tools and equipment. Hand, pneumatic, electric, and battery powered tools. Plasma cutters, oxyacetylene torches, and carbon air arc.
• Weld parts in various positions, processes (GMAW, FCAW, and GTAW), and materials (Steel, Aluminum, and Stainless Steel).
• Clean and maintain equipment and work area.
• Follow all safety guidelines and procedures.
• Assist in other areas of production as needed or as assigned.
