If you’ve ever wondered what owning your own business is like, just ask an Employee Owner of Chatsworth Products (CPI). Better yet, become one! CPI has an immediate need for an Operations Manager in CPI’s Round Rock, Texas location.

As a CPI Operations Manager, you will occupy a key role in working with and for a company that builds the physical infrastructure that powers, protects and secures the world’s digital technology. Day to day you will lead the strategic direction of manufacturing operations by driving safety, quality, productivity, and operational excellence across the department. This role champions Lean manufacturing principles, optimizes resources and production performance, and fosters a culture of continuous improvement through strong leadership and collaboration.

Essential Functions
  • Oversees and participates in the development of performance, efficiency, and product quality standards for manufacturing departments. Provides guidance to Team Leads regarding the alignment of department goals with overall company objectives. Develops empowered manufacturing teams capable of shipping, in a timely fashion, high quality products, manufactured efficiently and in a safe manner.
  • Sets the strategic direction for continuous improvement across the production organization; establishes the long-term roadmap for operational excellence, capacity planning, and process optimization in alignment with company goals.
  • Supports in the implementation of Lean manufacturing principles (e.g., 5S, value stream mapping, standardized work, Kaizen events, waste elimination, pull systems) across all production departments; builds organizational capability and ownership of Lean tools at the Team Lead and associate level.
  • Prepares annual budget for production department and monitors monthly expenses to ensure expenditures are aligned with approved Annual Operating Plan.
  • Monitors output, cycle times, routings, ensuring transactions, and quality indicators for all manufacturing departments and oversees and participates in the resolution of problems and reinforcement of positive findings. Works with other departmental managers to resolve difficult or continuing problems. Assures departments take preventative maintenance measures to avoid any delays in production processes.
  • Develops and maintains effective production teams through proper selection, training and assignment of personnel. Maintains a consistent floor presence to observe operations firsthand, validate that strategic initiatives are translating into floor-level results, respond to critical problems, and provide regular counsel and guidance to Team Leads.
  • In conjunction with Quality Department, establishes quality standards for all manufactured products; develops and implements methods to measure and monitor such standards.
  • Ensures that on-time delivery expectations are met through the execution of the production plan developed by the Production Scheduler. Establishes and implements policies and procedures needed to achieve the company's strategic operating goals.
  • Actively participates as a Safety Committee member. Works with Corporate Environmental Health & Safety Manager to plan and implement safety policies and procedures.
  • Collaborates with Manufacturing Engineering and Design Engineering regarding product changes, required production needs, production processes, future strategic objectives, etc. Communicates production, tooling, and product information and status as needed.
  • Drives data-driven decision-making by analyzing production metrics, identifying trends, and developing strategic action plans to close performance gaps; presents findings and recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Provides leadership and influences the production team to ensure that safety, quality, productivity and lead time goals are met.

  • Serves as a visible advocate and role model for Lean culture and continuous improvement initiatives company-wide.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

Technical Competencies
  • B.A. /B.S. in Business or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years experience, four (4) in a managerial position.
  • ISO 9000/internal auditor experience preferred.
  • Ability to train, teach and motivate.
  • Ability to understand and prepare budgets.
  • High aptitude for problem solving and troubleshooting.
  • Quality assurance experience.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing techniques and processes.
  • Demonstrated experience leading Lean manufacturing initiatives (5S, Kaizen, value stream mapping, standardized work, waste reduction); Lean certification or Six Sigma training preferred.
  • Proven ability to balance strategic, office-based responsibilities with regular hands-on presence on the production floor.
  • Thorough knowledge of OSHA safety requirements.
  • Conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to utilize various computer software programs for work processing, database, and spreadsheets.
Physical/Environmental Requirements
  • Some travel required.
  • Work in a manufacturing environment.
  • Work with a computer.
  • Lift up to 25 lbs.
