Job summary

You will weld steel, aluminum, and stainless steel, inspect structures, and mentor junior welders while maintaining high safety and workmanship standards in a modern facility.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3–5 years of welding experience as an intermediate welder.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering specs.
  • Proficient in MIG, TIG, STICK and oxy-acetylene welding.
  • Knowledge of metallurgy and welding principles.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; welding certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret blueprints and specifications to determine welding requirements.
  • Set up and operate MIG, TIG, and Stick welders; use plasma cutters and oxy-acetylene torches.
  • Weld steel, aluminum, and stainless steel with appropriate techniques.
  • Inspect welded structures for quality and make adjustments.
  • Collaborate with engineering/design teams on weldability and feasibility.
  • Fabricate components by cutting, bending, and shaping as needed.
  • Maintain equipment and inventory; ensure a clean, safe workspace.
  • Mentor junior welders and stay updated on welding tech.

Position Summary

The intermediate level position will be responsible for performing a variety of welding operations, fabricating metal components, and ensuring the quality and accuracy of welded structures. This position requires a solid understanding of welding techniques, the ability to interpret blueprints, and the capability to work independently while maintaining high standards of workmanship.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Interpret and analyze blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications to determine welding requirements.
  • Set up and operate welding equipment, including MIG, TIG, and Stick welders, as well as plasma cutters and oxy-acetylene torches.
  • Perform welding operations on various metals, such as steel, aluminum, and stainless steel, using appropriate welding techniques.
  • Ensure the accuracy and quality of welded structures by conducting inspections and making necessary adjustments.
  • Collaborate with engineering and design teams to provide input on weldability and feasibility of designs.
  • Fabricate metal components by cutting, bending, and shaping materials according to specifications.
  • Maintain welding equipment and tools, ensuring they are in good working condition.
  • Monitor and maintain inventory of welding supplies and materials.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Train and mentor junior welders, providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Stay updated on advancements in welding technology and techniques through continuous learning and professional development.
  • Other duties as assigned.
COMPETENCIES
  • Detail Oriented - Precision work, often with straight edges and minimal flaws requires keen eye for detail.
  • Dexterity - Must have steady hand to hold a torch in one place. Good hand-eye coordination is also required.
  • Stamina - Must be able to endure long periods of standing or repetitious movements.
  • Technical skills - Must be able to operate manual or semiautomatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments.
  • Troubleshooting skills - Must have the ability to detect cracked pieces of metal and be able to repair them.
  • Visual acuity - Must be able to see details and characteristics of the joint and detect changes in molten metal flows.Communication - Excellent communication skills and ability to take direction.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or certification in welding is preferred.
  • Proven experience as an intermediate level welder, with a minimum of 3-5 years of relevant work experience.
  • Strong understanding of various welding processes, including MIG, TIG, Stick, and oxy-acetylene welding.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications.
  • Knowledge of metallurgy and welding principles.
  • Ability to operate and maintain welding equipment and tools.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Must be able to weld components that are vertical, flat, or overhead.
  • Must have enough manual dexterity and stability as required for precision work.
  • Must be able to see details at close range.
  • Regularly lift and /or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to traverse facilities and machinery by climbing, balancing, lifting, walking, stooping, and carrying materials.
