In addition to hands‑on production, the Welder serves as a resource to less‑experienced team members—sharing knowledge, reinforcing best practices, and helping build technical skill and confidence across the team.

Key Responsibilities
Technical Duties
  • Perform full‑penetration and multi‑pass welds on structural steel, piping systems, and plate.
  • Read and interpret complex drawings, weld symbols, and geometric tolerancing.
  • Fit, clamp, and align components using jigs, magnets, pipe stands, and tack welds.
  • Use flame cutters, plasma torches, gougers, and power tools to shape or remove material.
  • Monitor weld bead profiles, arc characteristics, and consumable usage for quality control.
  • Coordinate with fabricators and machinists to ensure dimensional accuracy.
  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) precisely.
  • Pre‑inspect materials for cleanliness, ID stamping, and compliance with welding codes.
  • Record heat input and filler metal data when required for code documentation.
  • Conduct informal inspections and visual checks before calling in QA/QC.
  • Work with the supervisor and team to develop and implement approved improvements.
  • Act as a mentor and leader for less‑experienced welders, sharing knowledge and skills and fostering team accountability.
  • Provide hands‑on training and guidance on safety protocols and standard practices.
  • Assist other welders in interpreting blueprints, sketches, and schematics to plan and execute projects.
  • Foster a collaborative learning environment that encourages questions and knowledge sharing.
Qualifications
  • Typically 1–2 years of welding experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with employees and management at all levels.
  • Strong problem‑solving abilities and mechanical aptitude.
  • Able to work 40 hours per week on a regular basis, with additional hours as needed; overtime is anticipated and may include evenings and weekends.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift heavy components up to 50 lbs.
  • Physical stamina and strength to handle heavy materials.
  • Ability to stand, climb, push, pull, crouch, and kneel for extended periods.
