Job summary

Lexicon in Monroe, LA is seeking a Welder to weld material per job orders. This position is safety sensitive, as improper performance could threaten the health or safety of workers and the public. You will read welding symbols, prepare materials, and follow QA/QC and OSHA requirements.

Overtime and punctual attendance are often required. The role requires at least two years of welding experience, ability to pass tape measure tests, and competency with FCAW/SMAW welding, with attention to safety

Qualifications

  • Minimum of two years’ welding experience required.
  • Must be able to read and comprehend welding symbols and instructions.
  • Must be able to read and understand structural drawings.
  • Must be able to pass a tape measure test.
  • Must be able to pass an unlimited thickness groove plate test in the vertical and overhead positions using FCAW and SMAW.
  • Must be able to carbon arc gouge the back side of butt joints to sound metal.

Responsibilities

  • Locate pieces approved by Quality Control for welding. Gather equipment necessary to complete the job.
  • Clean welded pieces for next phase of processing.

  • The ability to work overtime and regular, punctual attendance is required.
  • Perform non-essential functions as needed.

Position Summary

The Welder is responsible for welding material according to specifications of job orders. This position is deemed ‘safety sensitive’ due to the fact that a person improperly performing the essential or marginal functions of the job would constitute a threat to the health or safety of the employee, the employee’s co-workers, and/or the public at large.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Physical Demands

Ability to lift at least 80 pounds frequently. Considerable amounts of overtime and weekend work may be required. Excessive amounts of bending and stooping in order to weld in difficult positions. Must be able to tolerate temperature fluctuations, and a dusty/noisy work environment. All of the physical demands listed are essential functions.
