Job summary

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Completion of an accredited welding program or formal apprenticeship preferred.
  • 1–3+ years of verifiable welding, fabrication, or production welding experience preferred.
  • Ability to use power tools such as grinders, chop saws, and plasma cutters.
  • Experience using measuring tools including tape measures and calipers.
  • Ability to safely operate or work around overhead cranes.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and work in varying temperature environments.
  • Ability to regularly lift 50–75 lbs.
  • Must be proficient in precision welding, including welding thin materials up to 1/16-inch thickness.
  • Must be able to properly use PPE, including auto‑darkening helmets, gloves, and respirators.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, welding symbols, and engineering specifications.
  • Set up and adjust welding equipment, including amperage, voltage, wire feed speed, and shielding gas settings.
  • Prepare materials by cutting, fitting, cleaning, and deburring steel, aluminum, and stainless‑steel surfaces.
  • Perform welding in flat, vertical, and overhead positions while maintaining quality welds.
  • Inspect completed welds for defects such as cracks, porosity, or poor fusion.
  • Maintain and clean welding equipment, including torches, cables, and wire feed assemblies.
  • Follow all safety procedures, OSHA guidelines, and proper PPE requirements.
