The Advanced Welder welds, cuts, and brazes metal pieces and products using pneumatic grinding and hand welding equipment.
Minimum Degree Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent
Certificate(s) or License(s): Welding certification from Technical College or Trade School
Years of experience: 1 year welding experience at a similar facility preferred; a minimum of 6 months in role as Entry Welder at current facility. Completion of a formal apprenticeship or successful completion of an in-company training program required.
Thorough understanding of machines and tools used in welding, including designs, uses, maintenance, and repair.
Basic understanding of design techniques, principles, and tools necessary for the precise production of technical plans, drawings, models, and blueprints.
Excellent ability to read and listen to assignments given in various forms.
Basic understanding of mathematics related to welding assignments.

Occasional sitting.
Must be able to weld components that are vertical, flat, or overhead.
Manual dexterity and stability required for precision work.
Ability to see details at close range.
Ability to traverse facilities and machinery by climbing, balancing, lifting, walking, stooping, and carrying materials.
Performs tasks under general supervision, using established procedures and some innovation. Uses limited alternatives to resolve problems. Occasionally makes recommendations to work procedures, policies, and practices.
