Job summary

Paylocity in Chattanooga, TN is seeking a skilled welder to setup and operate welding equipment, read blueprints, and contribute to production efficiency.

You will perform various welding methods, inspect welds, handle materials, and support quality and safety standards in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or general education degree.
• 6 months’ experience in manufacturing environment.
• Sherman & Reilly Weld Certification and AWS Specification D1.1. 94 and D1.3 89.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and write simple correspondence.
• Basic mathematical calculations at a high school level.
• Ability to apply commonsense to carry out instructions and solve problems.
• Physical ability to lift up to 60 pounds and work in a loud, variable-temperature environment.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate welding equipment per drawings to meet quality and productivity standards.
• Weld parts using arc, gas-shielded arc, submerged arc or gas welding methods.
• Inspect welds for proper soundness, dimensions, heat and depth.
• Read blueprints and handle materials and tools.
• Inspect parts with gauges, calipers and fixtures.
• Dismantle, straighten, reshape and reassemble parts.
• Perform assembly or production duties with minimal supervision.
• Maintain and store company tools properly.
• Assist quality in testing and other related tasks.
• Conduct rope winding as necessary.
• Support safety, housekeeping and performance standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Include the following and other duties may be assigned:

• Responsible for set up and operations as required by drawings to meet acceptable quality and productivity standards by either electric arc or automatic wire feed process
• Sets up equipment and welds parts, using arc, gas-shielded arc, submerged arc or gas welding equipment.
• Demonstrate soundness of weld joints while maintaining proper weld dimensions, heat and depth of weld to parts
• Shall be subject to radiography, dye penetrant inspection or bend tests
• Responsible for reading blue prints, handling materials and tools such as; tape measures, plasma cutter, cutting torches drill, bolts, clamps, etc.
• Inspects parts or completed units by using visual inspection, gages, tape measures, check fixtures, calipers, or other inspection equipment.
• Repairs products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping and reassembling parts.
• Performs a variety of assembly or production duties with minimal supervision.
• Responsible to see that all company supplied tools used are placed into proper storage cabinets daily.
• Assist quality in testing and other efforts as required
• Conduct rope winding as necessary
• Assist and maintains acceptable performance standards for assembly, production, quality, safety, and housekeeping
• Performs all other assigned duties as instructed by supervision.

Language Skills:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills:

Perform basic mathematical calculations at a high school level. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving root cause and corrective action analysis.
