Job summary

A Hiring Company is seeking a skilled welder to set up and operate welding processes in a production environment. You will weld parts using arc, submerged arc, or gas welding equipment and demonstrate sound weld joints with correct dimensions and heat control.

Reading blueprints, inspecting parts with calipers and gauges, and repairing components are essential. Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED and welding certifications are a plus.

Qualifications

  • Ability to read blueprints and use inspection tools.
  • High school diploma or GED required; welding certifications preferred.
  • 6 months' experience in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate welding processes to meet quality and productivity standards.

  • Read blueprints and handle materials with common tools.

Job description

Include the following and other duties may be assigned:

  • Responsible for set up and operations as required by drawings to meet acceptable quality and productivity standards by either electric arc or automatic wire feed process
  • Sets up equipment and welds parts, using arc, gas-shielded arc, submerged arc or gas welding equipment.
  • Demonstrate soundness of weld joints while maintaining proper weld dimensions, heat and depth of weld to parts
  • Shall be subject to radiography, dye penetrant inspection or bend tests
  • Responsible for reading blue prints, handling materials and tools such as; tape measures, plasma cutter, cutting torches drill, bolts, clamps, etc.
  • Inspects parts or completed units by using visual inspection, gages, tape measures, check fixtures, calipers, or other inspection equipment.
  • Repairs products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping and reassembling parts.
  • Performs a variety of assembly or production duties with minimal supervision.
  • Responsible to see that all company supplied tools used are placed into proper storage cabinets daily.
  • Assist quality in testing and other efforts as required
  • Conduct rope winding as necessary
  • Assist and maintains acceptable performance standards for assembly, production, quality, safety, and housekeeping
  • Performs all other assigned duties as instructed by supervision.

Education

High school diploma or general education degree

6 months' experience in manufacturing environment

Language Skills

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills

Perform basic mathematical calculations at a high school level. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving root cause and corrective action analysis.
