Job summary

Westlake Chemical is seeking an experienced maintenance welder to support plant operations in Kentucky. You will maintain, fabricate, install and repair piping systems, valves, and heat exchangers using high nickel alloys, in confined spaces and at heights.

Primary duties include preventive maintenance, rigging, tool handling, and clean-up of work areas to minimize downtime. Four years of industrial pipe welding experience are required, with ability to assist other crafts as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum four years industrial pipe welding experience with high nickel alloys (e.g., stainless, Hastelloy, Inconel, nickel).
• Ability to assist other craftsmen in performance of duties.

Responsibilities

• Maintains, fabricates, installs, repairs and/or replaces piping systems, valves, heat exchangers, and safety relief systems.
• Repairs and maintains cracking furnaces and reactors.
• Utilizes electric, air and hydraulically driven tools and equipment.
• Rigs for lifting equipment and performs preventive maintenance.
• Cleans up work area and disposes of waste materials.
• Returns tools and equipment to storage and supports maintenance schedule to minimize downtime.

SUMMARY:

Maintains, fabricates, installs, repairs and/or replaces facility piping systems, valves, heat exchangers, safety relief systems. Works in confined spaces e.g. reactors, furnaces, quenches and at heights out of aerial lifts.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Maintains, fabricates, installs, repairs and/or replaces piping systems, valves, heat exchangers, and safety relief systems in accordance with applicable procedures and specifications
• Repairs and maintains cracking furnaces and reactors
• Utilizes electric, air and hydraulically driven tools and equipment
• Utilizes cutting equipment
• Rigs for lifting equipment
• Performs preventative maintenance
• Cleans up work area following completion of assigned job task and properly disposes of waste materials
• Returns tools and equipment to normal storage areas
• Completes other routine or assigned duties as necessary to meet the maintenance department work schedule to minimize equipment downtime

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum four years industrial pipe welding experience with high nickel alloys e.g. Stainless, Hastelloy, Inconel, Nickel for primary skill and attainment of qualifying skills in two additional maintenance crafts sufficient to assist other craftsmen in performance of their duties
