Role Overview
We are seeking a self-motivated and organized Certified Welder - Valve Technician to join our dynamic team. This role focuses on weld repairing pressure-retaining valve components, structural welding of automation brackets, and fabricating repair tooling. The technician will also assist with the teardown, repair, and assembly of valves, actuators, and automation equipment both in the shop and in the field. The ideal candidate will have the ability to qualify and perform welding under ASME section IX, the candidate will also acquire the skills to pre- and post-weld heat treatment/stress relief procedures per ASME Section IX and NYNE’s weld procedures, bringing a positive attitude, attention to detail, and a safety-first mindset to a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Field Service Operations: Assist with the field repair of customer assets under NYNE’s Valve and Actuation Repair Program. The ability to understand and apply codes and regulatory requirements of ASME Section IX Code with regard to field weld repairs and post weld heat treat requirements. Assist with rigging, scaffolding, job planning, and coordination of weld repairs as needed.
  • Welding: Perform welding tasks as required for the repairs and maintenance of valves, and other equipment. Ensure welds meet NYNE’s weld procedures and compliance with ASME Section IX. Maintain all required documentation of qualifications under Section IX.
  • Machining: Operate machining equipment such as lathes, mills, and grinders for precision repairs and fabrication of valve components and other equipment.
  • Equipment and Tooling: Maintain welding equipment including the calibration of welders, rod ovens, and PWHT ovens. Maintain Filler Metal CMTR records and welding logs. Maintain field equipment, tooling, consumables, etc as needed.
  • Valve Repair: Conduct evaluations, disassembly, repairs, and testing of valves and actuators. Document findings and actions with photos and videos. Perform surface preparation, painting, and shipping as needed for repairs and maintenance.
  • Documentation: Complete all required service and repair documentation in real-time, including work orders, evaluation reports, weld reports, and inventory management as needed.
  • Customer Interaction: The ability to interact with customers and 3 rd parties on technical and projects requirements at customer sites and industrial plants.

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree in Mechanical or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in operating under quality and safety program requirements.
  • Experience in welding (e.g., MIG, TIG, Stick) for repairs and metalworking tasks. AWS Certification strongly preferred
  • Experience with machining equipment and techniques (e.g., lathes, mills, grinders) for fabricating and repairing parts.
  • 6+ years of related experience.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and overtime for an extended period of time.
  • Experience with warehouse equipment and lifting procedures.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to learn quickly.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and ability to adapt to new software.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks.
