Job summary

Challenge Manufacturing is seeking a Weld Tooling Maintenance technician for our Northlake, TX plant. You will set up and operate machine tools for precision welding-related parts, adjust weld fixtures, and verify parts against drawings.

Ideal candidates have at least two years of machinist experience, welding proficiency (MIG/TIG/SMAW), and the ability to read blueprints. A forklift and scissor lift license are required, with emphasis on safety and quality.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Associates degree from a two-year college or technical school.
• Minimum of two years of Machinist experience.
• Welding proficiency with MIG, TIG, SMAW and brazing.
• Valid forklift license issued by CHM.
• Valid Scissor Lift license issued by CHM.
• Ability to read blueprints and engineering drawings.
• Strong communication and time management skills.

Responsibilities

• Set up, adjust, and operate basic machine tools to perform precision machining operations.
• Verify conformance of finished workpiece to specifications using measuring tools.
• Perform advanced weld fixture adjustments for complex systems.
• Study blueprints, drawings, and engineering information to determine methods and sequences.
• Select appropriate tools, machines, and materials for machining work.
• Measure, mark, and scribe dimensions on material as guides for machining.
• Participate in continuous improvement efforts to enhance production efficiency and quality.
• Complete and manage work orders via Plex systems.
• Collaborate with engineering, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve machining or assembly problems.
