Job summary
John Deere is hiring a Weld Manufacturing and Factory Automation Engineer for the 3rd shift at their East Moline, IL facility. The role focuses on daily manufacturing engineering and automation support to drive safety, quality, delivery, and efficiency on the shop floor.
The position requires Welding manufacturing experience, strong problem-solving, and the ability to collaborate across Operations, Quality, and Product Engineering. Onsite, with potential for overtime.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent manufacturing experience.
- Experience with welding manufacturing processes and shop floor support.
- Proven ability to drive issues to resolution in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Experience with manufacturing systems and process documentation such as labor standards, operator methods, routings, and work instructions.
- Strong collaboration across salaried and wage teams.
- Ability to work off-shift and overtime as required.
- Bias toward action and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Provide daily Manufacturing Engineering and Factory Automation support on 3rd shift to achieve safety, quality, delivery, and efficiency objectives.
- Act as first responder to shop floor issues, diagnosing problems and implementing corrective actions.
- Troubleshoot and improve manufacturing systems including JDAAT, smart tools, fixtures, test equipment, and production processes.
- Identify and implement process improvements that enhance safety, quality, ergonomics, productivity, and cost performance.
- Develop and maintain manufacturing process definitions including operator methods, routings, labor standards, tooling, layouts, and documentation.
- Lead and support implementation of new manufacturing technologies and automation initiatives.
