Hi-Tech Weld Overlay Group is seeking a Weld Equipment Technician to maintain and prepare welding, gouging, and blasting systems for field and in-house use. The role involves project setup, equipment calibration, and potential NDE tasks pending training.

This position supports field projects across industrial sites and includes potential for advancement into leadership roles within Production, QC, Safety and R&D.

Responsibilities

Our Weld Equipment Technician role is responsible for equipment maintenance and readiness. Our Technicians works under the direction of our shop staff and/or Field Project Manager during field project assignments for the completion of task assignments. Tasks consist of project setup activities and the performance of support role duties such as repair and calibration of welding/gouging/blasting systems for preparation of field and/or in-house use. Additional duties may involve NDE tasks (such as VT, PT, and UT thickness) for weld samples and projects (pending applicable NDE training and NDE certifications are completed). Technicians may also assist with training duties associated with new Technicians and/or Weld Operators. This role encourages career development of welding skills through equipment testing and weld procedure qualifications in a Technician role, with opportunity for further career growth into management and leadership roles involving Production, QC, Safety, and/or R&D roles associated with our specialized company.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• 1. Possesses the skills and industry knowledge to assist craft personnel by assuring all necessary materials, equipment, and tooling are present and maintained in a safe and reliable working condition upon unload and during the entire duration of the project.
• 2. Assists with equipment logs and site inventory management of materials and consumables.
• 3. Maintains the working knowledge and expertise to set-up all equipment items associated with weld overlay projects. The set-up and installation of equipment needs to be staged for safety and efficiency, while always maintaining good housekeeping of the workspace(s).
• 4. Ensure weld overlay machines and all support-type equipment are performing correctly and within parameters to provide safe operation for a quality end-result.
• 5. Work with Welding personnel and NDE personnel to train and demonstrate the proper use and positions of equipment to ensure quality standards are met.
• 6. Follows and ensures compliance of all Company safety policies, safety regulations, and safe work practices always.
• 7. Adheres to quality standards set by the Company while assuring that productivity standards and schedules are met.
• 8. Ensure all equipment is accounted for and properly stored by utilizing the original equipment checklist. Equipment must be loaded securely with any missing or defective equipment reported/tagged.
• 9. May be asked to assist Union Craft Boilermakers (i.e. welders, laborers) in a support role only involving various project tasks.
• 10. Assists with warehouse tasks, such as repairing, testing, fabrication R&D, and general warehouse duties.
• 11. Demonstrate skills for effective teamwork and cooperation with all employees and customers of the Company.

Desired Minimum Qualifications:

To successfully perform the essential functions of this position, the Incumbent is preferred to have at least one (1) year of hands-on work experience in the welding industry and/or industrial construction industry. Incumbent must have knowledge and ability to operate common tools and equipment used in the welding industry. The Incumbent must be flexible and willing to work when called upon. Strong verbal and written communications skills are required, along with knowledge or working with computers and various computer software programs (i.e. MS Excel, etc.). The ability to follow instructions, given either orally or in writing, is required.

All personnel must carry out assigned duties and responsibilities in an ethical manner and must follow Company policies. All personnel will need to abide by all employment screening requirements required by Hi-Tech for employment, in addition to any additional requirements that may apply for specific projects.

Physical Demands:

The Incumbent will work in and around heavy construction/maintenance work sites, with continual strenuous work activity performed under varying weather and environmental conditions. The job requires standing, walking, climbing ladders, and/or climbing scaffolding for extended periods of time along with bending, stooping, pushing, carrying, or maneuvering involved pertaining to equipment weighing up to 100 pounds. Additionally, this role will require personnel to have the ability to work in small, tight and noisy work areas within work areas of elevated temperatures and humidity.

Equipment:

The Incumbent may perform duties in various work environments, which will involve sites such as the corporate warehouse, shop environments, and/or field work sites located at various industrial job sites. Equipment utilized involves items such as a company vehicle, laptop computer, cell phone, radio equipment, potential heavy equipment, various support tooling, and the general working knowledge and use of various tools and processes of the industry.

Anticipated Travel:
