Job summary

Challenge Manufacturing in Spartanburg, SC is seeking a 3rd shift electrician to install, test and maintain electrical systems on stamping presses, conveyors and feeders.

You will read blueprints, plan layouts for wiring, diagnose malfunctions, install conduit up to 3 inches, and train apprentices while following NEC and OSHA safety standards.

Qualifications

• Must read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and blueprints.
• Proven ability to diagnose electrical malfunctions quickly to avoid production delays.
• Experience with NEC-compliant installation of wiring, conduits, and connections.
• Familiarity with PLC-controlled equipment and basic controls improvements.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures per codes.
• Diagnose malfunctions using meters and test equipment; locate and fix issues.

Being part of an ESOP means our employee-owners share in Challenge’s success!Challenge is #QualityDriven and #PeoplePowered!Who We Want:This position is responsible for plan layout, alterations, additions and /or repairs of electrical systems, stamping presses, conveyors, and feeders.What You’ll Do:Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, industrial equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools consistent with local and national codes.Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.Inspect electrical systems, industrial equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.Advise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous.Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, meg-ohm meter, and oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of system.Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, based on job specifications and local codesDirect and train apprentices to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures.Prepare sketches or follow blueprints to determine the location of wiring and equipment and to ensure conformance to building and safety codes.Use a variety of tools and equipment such as power construction equipment, measuring devices, power tools, and testing equipment including oscilloscopes, ammeters, and test lamps.Install ground leads and connect power cables to equipment, such as motors.Perform business management duties such as maintaining records and files, preparing reports and ordering supplies and equipment.Repair or replace wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using hand tools and power toolsWork from ladders, scaffolds, scissor lifts, boom lifts, and roofs to install, maintain or repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures.Run EMT, Sealtite, or Rigid (as required by code) conduit up to 3’’ inside designated partitions, walls, or other concealed areas, and pull insulated wires or cables through the conduit to complete circuits between boxes.When and Where:This will be a 3rd Shift / 9:00 PM - 5:00 AM Sun-Thurs position located at our Plant Spartanburg, SC.What You Need to Have:Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English at a level sufficient to safely and effectively perform job duties, including following work instructions, safety procedures, and company communications.Has high standards of performance for self.Takes responsibility for actions, results, and mistakes. Good computer skills are very important.Requires skill in the use of electrical hand tools.Must be able to perform the electrical Preventative Maintenance on all equipment.Must know and follow established safety procedures including a working knowledge of OSHA & MIOSHA including but not limited to Energy Control and Arc Flash hazards.
